A month ago I wrote about the excessive amount of spam that had recently started making it through to my Live Mail Inbox. Unfortunately things have not gotten any better. I logged in this morning and found 31 new messages, of which only 2 were valid. That's 29 spam mails since Friday afternoon. :( Completely unacceptable in my opinion.
I checked my junk mail folder and it has 19 mails in it since Friday, which means more than 50% of the spam is making it through to my Inbox. Again, completely unacceptable.
So, what are my options? Well, I was hoping that the M5 release would have a 'fix' of some sort, but no dice. I could also turn on the ultimate junk mail filter by setting the level to Exclusive, but then everything is sent to the junk email folder if it's not from someone in my contacts. Since I use this address as my public point of contact, that isn't an option. What does that leave me with? Help make the product better, that's what!
I contacted Omar Shahine, a PM with Live Mail, when I made my original post a month ago just to let him know the issues I was having and that I was posting about them. He was kind enough to respond and has been looking into the issue. For now, I'll just deal with the extra spam, but I'm hoping that Omar and the Live Mail team get it fixed soon.
Let me also add that other than the unseemly amount of spam hitting my Inbox, I'm really happy with Live Mail. It blows the old version of Hotmail out of the water! There are so many awesome features in Live Mail that it comes extremely close to replacing a desktop mail application. It really is that loaded with features.
